The Solution
We designed and structured the world’s first Humanitarian Impact Bond. Private investors provided the working capital upfront to build and operate physical rehabilitation centres in three post-conflict countries. A group of outcome funders then repaid those investors based on the independently measured efficiency of the centres, shifting the risk of delivery away from donors and tying every repayment directly to results on the ground.
Headline Result
3,600+ people served during the bond period, with around 40,000 expected over the lifetime of the centres.
