FAQs
Q1. Why don’t we just create a fund ourselves?
Answer: While a single fund could deploy capital, funder-owned strategies often create power imbalances and limit collaboration. Our approach is collectively owned—it reduces bias, involves multiple stakeholders, and ensures diverse perspectives drive the strategy. By structuring deals and building capacity, we enable more transparent, equitable, and sustainable financing pathways.
Q2. Who is running this?
Answer: Human Planet is devised and implemented by KOIS and MzN International. Together, we bring a wealth of experience in innovative finance and humanitarian development, ensuring projects receive the transformation support they need.
Q3. Is this a replacement for grants and taxpayer aid?
Answer: No. Private finance is crucial to accelerate progress, but it can’t fully replace traditional development aid in every context. We complement existing funds by unlocking additional capital where it can be most effective.
Q4. How do I know if my project is suitable?
Answer: If you’re an implementing organization (NGO, IGO, development contractor) with a climate, humanitarian, or development-focused project that could attract private finance, you’re a good fit. Reach out to discuss eligibility and next steps.
Q5. How often does the Investor Circle meet?
Answer: We convene multiple times a year, allowing a rolling pipeline of projects to secure funding in a timely manner.
Q6. How much funding can we raise?
Answer: Part of our innovation is that we often find finance solutions for a set of interconnected challenges, rather than single projects. This means we can raise as much funding as is needed for your project, linking it with others at the same time. This way we build and fund a more innovative solution approach that embraces complexity.
Q7. Can I partner with more than one programme?
Answer: Yes, you can!
Q8. I don’t know which project to choose. Can you help me?
Answer: Yes, please complete the “become a partner” form with one that you have in mind and we can talk about this and other projects in the next few days.
