By Florian Kemmerich, Co-Founder, Human Planet

It has now been two months since we completed the management buy-out that marked the transformation of KOIS Advisory into Human Planet. From the very beginning, this step has represented far more than a business transaction. It has been a deliberate and strategic move to co-create a global advisory platform that mobilises catalytic and commercial capital to address the most urgent challenges of our time. Together with my co-founder Christian Meyer zu Natrup, I see Human Planet as the next move applying agility, balance, discipline and courage to a world in need of meaningful solutions. These first two months have been marked by a deep sense of purpose and a growing momentum. We have had the privilege of engaging with remarkable partners and participating in key forums that reflect the mission we have set for Human Planet.

At the Blended Finance Africa 2025 event, I was inspired by the commitment of leaders across sectors to unlocking capital for impactful projects on the continent. Discussions at this gathering reinforced my belief that blended finance is essential to bridging the gap between commercial viability and development needs, particularly in underserved markets where risk remains a barrier to private investment. In other dialogues, we have explored the importance of regenerative finance and nature-based solutions. We have seen first-hand how these approaches can advance climate resilience while creating investable outcomes. At forums focused on impact investing and climate models, the conversation centred on designing systems that can channel capital not only efficiently but also equitably, ensuring that the solutions we build are sustainable for both people and planet. We have also been privileged to engage in conversations on humanitarian development, including the urgent need to strengthen education systems in contexts such as Ukraine.

The work of foundations supporting education and resilience in fragile environments serves as a powerful reminder of why Human Planet exists: To help design and finance solutions that create real, measurable change. What unites all of these engagements is a shared recognition that impact and profit are not opposing forces. Too often, impact is still seen as a cost rather than as an opportunity to generate value. At Human Planet, we reject that framing. Our mission is to design outcome-based finance structures, impact-linked returns and blended capital models that show impact can be measurable, scalable and investable. We see this as a twelve trillion dollar opportunity that remains largely untapped because it requires new thinking and bold action. These early months have shown that our vision resonates. We have aligned swiftly as a team, engaged meaningfully with partners and begun to demonstrate what is possible when expertise, data and ambition are combined. Looking ahead, I am energised by the journey before us.

Human Planet will continue to build innovative finance solutions, deepen partnerships across sectors and deliver measurable outcomes that prove innovative finance can be a powerful force for good. The foundation has been laid. Now let’s “impact lives & share profits”.
