The Human Planet Accelerator exists to support bold, locally driven solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. This year’s cohort includes changemakers working in the heart of conflict zones, climate-affected regions, and underserved health and education systems. From mobile clinics in Madagascar to digital learning tools in war-impacted communities, these ventures reflect a common truth: innovation grows strongest in the soil of necessity.
But this journey is not just about innovation. It is about resilience. It is about restoring agency where it’s been stripped away and building a future that is not imposed from outside, but shaped from within.
That’s why we are so proud to spotlight The Tokarev Foundation, whose work in Ukraine exemplifies what the Accelerator stands for.
A Dream Rooted in Hope
The Tokarev Foundation began not with grand blueprints, but with a simple, heartfelt conviction: that technology could be a force for good, and that Ukraine, resilient, creative, full of promise, could lead that transformation.
Its founder, Serhiy Tokarev, had already built a successful career in the tech world. But something deeper called to him. It was not enough to launch businesses; he wanted to launch possibilities. To open doors for young Ukrainians to shape their own future.
That dream started to take shape in conversations with students, teachers, and innovators across Ukraine. Again and again, the message was clear: “We have the talent. We have the ideas. But we need access. We need support.”
The Tokarev Foundation emerged as a response not just an institution, but a promise to walk alongside the next generation. A commitment to champion education, innovation, and well-being, so more Ukrainians could turn potential into impact.
Turning Vision into Action
Today, the Foundation’s work lives where technology meets resilience and where learning becomes a tool for healing and rebuilding.
In every project, there’s a story of transformation. A teenage girl in Kharkiv discovering robotics for the first time through STEM is FEM. A schoolkid from a frontline community in Dnipropetrovsk region working on a breakthrough scientific project in a custom-built DIY STEM lab. An innovator prototyping a health solution through Generation H, their HealthTech accelerator with SET University. Or a student pursuing global education through a scholarship to UWC ISAK Japan.
These stories are powerful because they are personal. They remind us that resilience is not abstract; it lives in every student who dares to dream bigger, and every founder who believes that solutions can come from within.
And what makes the Tokarev Foundation special is how deeply local their approach remains. Whether it’s a teen prototyping a flood sensor or a founder pitching their first startup, each project is rooted in community and driven by belief in a better future.These are not outside-in interventions. These are homegrown innovations, powered by belief and courage.
Shaping the Future with Purpose
Looking ahead, the Tokarev Foundation is taking its impact to the next level. They are launching their first impact investing fund, focused on Ukrainian-led ventures in HealthTech and EdTech.
This is not just capital, it’s capacity-building. It’s about investing in the systems that allow good ideas to grow. About building businesses that bring access to healthcare, to education, to opportunity.
This marks a new chapter: one where recovery becomes reinvention. Where technology is not just a tool but a catalyst for lasting resilience.
